Privacy

Gym Ninja is run by Tim Bonnett, who is responsible for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: the contact address on this site.

What we collect, and why

  • Price alerts. If you set one, we keep your email address, the products and prices you chose, and a record of what you agreed to and when. We use them only to send the alerts you asked for. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Weekly deals email. Only if you tick the box, and only once you’ve confirmed your address. Legal basis: your consent.
  • Daily email for a sales event (such as Black Friday), and an email when the next sales event starts. Each only if you tick its own box, and only once you’ve confirmed your address. We keep the exact words you agreed to and when. Legal basis: your consent.
  • Clicks to retailers. We count which products and pages people click through from, with no personal data: no IP address, cookie or identity is stored. For Awin retailers we pass Awin a random click number, so their sales reports can tell us which page and product a sale came from.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard logs (such as IP addresses) for a short time to keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure site.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use advertising trackers or anyone else’s analytics.

How we count visits

To understand which pages and products are useful, we count page views ourselves, without cookies or anything stored on your device. For each view we record the page, the site that linked to it (just its name, such as google.com), whether it was a phone, tablet or computer, and the country (from our host, Vercel). We don’t store your IP address or your browser’s details.

To count visitors rather than views, we mix your IP address and browser details with a random value that we replace and delete every day, and keep only the scrambled result. It can’t be turned back into your IP address, and it changes every day, so we can’t follow anyone from one day to the next. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control, we don’t count you at all. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a useful site.

You can also stop us counting your visits on this browser with the button below. We remember that choice in your browser’s own storage, which is the only thing we keep on your device, and only because you asked.

When you click through to a retailer

Links to retailers go through affiliate networks such as Awin, so the retailer can pay us a commission if you buy. The network and the retailer may set their own cookies on their sites to do this. That’s covered by their privacy policies, not this one. How we make money.

Who processes data for us

We plan to use these providers (not yet in place while the site is being built):

  • Vercel (website hosting)
  • Neon (database, in London)
  • Resend (sending email)

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where data goes outside the UK, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Alert requests you don’t confirm are deleted after 7 days.
  • Alerts are kept until you remove them.
  • When you unsubscribe from everything, your email address is deleted too.
  • Sign-ups for a sales event’s daily email are deleted 30 days after the event; your address goes too unless you’ve asked us for something else.
  • Individual page views are kept for 30 days, and daily totals (with nothing about any one visitor) for 13 months.

Your rights

Every alert email has a link to your alerts page, where you can change or remove alerts, stop the deals email, download everything we hold about you, or delete it all, without needing an account. You can also ask us to correct your data or to stop using it, by emailing the contact address on this site. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We don’t set cookies for visitors. Cookies.
