Our verdict

Who it suits
Short, hard workouts in a small space: it's an elliptical-and-stepper hybrid with moving handles for arms as well as legs, 16 resistance levels, and a footprint of 117 × 66 cm. Users up to 136 kg.
Who should look elsewhere
Low ceilings: BowFlex asks for your height plus 52 cm (232 cm for a 180 cm user). It doesn't fold, JRNY runs on your own phone or tablet, and BowFlex doesn't give a noise figure or say how it connects.
